2025 Guidelines for Shipping

In anticipation of living on campus, there may be some items you wish to ship directly to campus. Read below to learn about Stanford's mail and delivery services.

Mail & Package Services

Beginning August 1, a new mail and package delivery system was implemented across campus. For more, see Mail & Package Services.

All packages must be addressed to the Stanford Warehouse, where they will be received, sorted, and labeled with internal Stanford tracking information. Packages will then be transported to campus and placed in lockers or delivered to the Tresidder Package Center (TPC) for pickup. The goal is for same-day delivery to campus. Typically, during non-peak times, packages delivered to the warehouse by carriers in the morning will arrive on campus that afternoon. Packages can be tracked and will be held for 9 days before being returned to the sender.

This process is part of Stanford's Last Mile Program, aimed at improving package delivery efficiency.

How To Address Your Mail and Packages

Packages:

Students should address their packages (ex. FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS packages, etc.) to the Stanford Warehouse as follows:

Stanford Warehouse
Student First & Last Name - SUNet ID
8424 Central Avenue
Newark, CA 94560

Note: Your SUNet ID is a very important unique identifier that separates you from other students. Omitting the SUNet ID from packages will cause delays in deliveries to you.

What NOT to address to the Stanford Warehouse:
  • USPS flat mail
  • Same Day Deliveries from stores like Walmart, Target, non-food orders through Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. All of these types of orders need to be addressed and sent to your residential address, not the warehouse.
  • Flowers, food orders, groceries, Door Dash, perishables - all of these should be addressed to your residential address.

United States Postal Service (USPS) Flat Mail:

Students should address their flat mail (ex. DMV, passports, immigration docs, birthday cards, bank statements, etc.) to the Tresidder Package Center as follows:

Student First & Last Name - SUNet ID
459 Lagunita Drive
c/o Stanford Tresidder Package Center
Stanford, CA 94305

Questions

Do you need to contact the package center? Have a question about your package? Please submit a help ticket on our ServiceNow form here.

Note to New Students

As a new student, please keep in mind that you may only receive packages after you have moved in. Any packages delivered before your move-in may be returned to sender, due to space limitations at the package center. If you are planning to stay in a nearby hotel before checking in at Stanford, you may wish to inquire if you can have packages shipped there.

"Ship to School" Service Options

As students are unable to receive packages at the Package Center before moving in, there are a couple of Ship to School service options which provide a convenient way to transport your personal belongings and packages and/or online purchases and have them delivered directly to your dorm. Please note that these are separate processes and services from standard package shipping and delivery (outlined above). The university assumes no responsibility for loss of, or damage to, items included in these processes. Additionally, contracts with vendors are entered into by the student and the firm. The university is not a party to these contracts.

Collegeboxes

Stanford Housing has collaborated with our storage vendor, Collegeboxes, to provide a "Ship to School" service.  See Storage Services for more information about this shipping option.

SSE & Storage Scholars

Starting this year, Stanford Student Enterprises (SSE) has partnered with Storage Scholars to offer a "Ship to School" service. See Storage Scholars for more information and to sign up.

Stanford Post Office

The U.S. Post Office located in White Plaza on campus will continue to operate, but without mailboxes for students living in undergraduate housing. While you will not receive mail/packages from the Post Office, you can send mail and packages via the Post Office.
