NSO Orientation Coordinators and Stanford Tree on Move-In Day

New Student Orientation strives to acclimate each entering first-year and transfer class to life at Stanford by introducing them to the University's diverse educational opportunities and resources; acquainting them with other students and University staff; helping them feel at home in their residential community; and creating in them a sense of place in Stanford's history as contributing members. Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting new students and their families and we welcome your involvement in creating a memorable NSO.

Move-In Day Volunteers

New Student Move-In Day will be on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Join us for Move-In Day and help our students move into their new homes! We are happy to invite faculty, staff, and alumni to be Move-In Day Volunteers! Join us for an optional breakfast on Arguello Field (between Wilbur and Stern), pick up your free Stanford Move-In Day T-shirt, and head to your designated location to welcome our students and their families! 

Move-In Volunteers

Move-In Volunteers aka "Stanford Movers" will be located at the residences and will cheer for students as they arrive, unload cars, and carry belongings to student rooms. This is a physical volunteer role that requires lifting, unloading, and possibly going up or down stairs. Please wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes. Faculty, Staff, and Alumni may sign up to be Move-In Volunteers.

  • On Tuesday, September 15, arrive between 7am-7:45am at Arguello Field (between Wilbur and Stern) for an optional breakfast, to pick up your volunteer t-shirt, and to check where you've been assigned.
  • Move-In Volunteers are asked to volunteer from 8am-11am, (or 12pm) if your schedule allows. However if you need to leave earlier, please just let us know. We glady accept everyone's help!
  • A complimentary parking pass for the Wilbur Parking Garage can be provided upon request.

You will receive an email from the New Student Orientation Team in early September confirming arrival time and location, as well as advanced t-shirt pick-up times, if available. If you have additional questions, please contact stanfordnso@stanford.edu.

Check-In Volunteers

Check-In Volunteers will be located at the residential Check-In Locations and will distribute SUID cards and room keys to students. Check-In Volunteers must be full-time Stanford Staff or Faculty. Check-In is managed by R&DE. You will receive an email from R&DE in early September confirming details, required training information, as well as advanced volunteer t-shirt pick-up times, if available.
